Main courses are great, but let’s be honest, nothing tops the perfect dessert. At Cafe Dantorels, we serve our fair share of sweet tooths, which means we’ve had to spend time honing our own dessert menu so that there is something there for everyone. While we can’t pick just one personal favorite, we can pick out a few to the spotlight, so that the next time you’re craving something sweet, you know just where to turn!
Fresh-Baked Apple Pie
We wouldn’t be an all-American restaurant if we didn’t offer our take on a classic: the apple pie. This sweet, fruity dish has been a part of American history since the late 1600s when it was introduced by British colonists. Because of the simple ingredients and ease of creation, this pie went on to grow in popularity throughout the years, finding its way into nearly every American kitchen at some point or another. Our take on this historic dish starts with fresh apples. We caramelize them before baking to preserve their sweetness, then toss them with cinnamon, brown sugar, and syrup. Once cooked, we add crushed walnuts for a stabilizing crunch and serve it up! Why over-complicate things?
The French Kiss
Next up we’ve got a controversial favorite: mascarpone cheese. Many people see “cheese” and don’t associate it with dessert, but we think our delicious French Kiss is enough to change your mind. This thick, melt-in-your-mouth treat is probably most comparable to cream cheese flavor-wise, though its consistency is more like mousse. You may have already tried it before in an Italian dessert like a cannoli without even realizing it! The French Kiss is kept simple: a serving of mascarpone topped with a sweet strawberry sauce. Not too rich, not too sugary, just right every time.
Crepe Marseilles
Café Dantorels is no stranger to crepes; in fact, we’ve got a whole section of our menu just for them! But this one is special. Named for the bright, sunny city on the French Riviera, our Crepe Marseilles are meant to invoke all the flavors of summer. We blend the tangy, earthy flavors of goat cheese and almonds with the citrusy notes of strawberries, blueberries, and sliced oranges. Together, these flavors mix to create something refreshing to offset the more savory flavors of most entrees. It is meant to be sweet, but not too sweet so that you can head home feeling just right.
Although these desserts could all stand alone, they are just a few of what we have to offer at Café Dantorels. Stop in to try them yourself, or order ahead and enjoy a treat anywhere you want!
